During this 10-week creative arts course, elementary school students ages 12-14 from the Bronzeville area will use artistic expression to discuss the impact of mass incarceration on their community. Students will be encouraged to communicate through the arts to bring a re-imagined criminal justice system to light.

These sessions will work in collaboration with a project with the University of Chicago Police, to help to strengthen the relationship between the police and our students.

Students will also explore some of the main topics presented in Michelle Alexander’s book “The New Jim Crow” to help to facilitate their conversation.
